Congressional Campaign Workers Unionize; Fourth Campaign in the Country

PLACENTIA, Ca. — The Campaign Workers Guild on Friday announced the ratification of a collective bargaining agreement with Andy Thorburn for Congress. The contract was unanimously ratified by organizers for Thorburn, the progressive candidate for CA-39. The bargaining unit is now the fourth campaign to announce unionization in less than three weeks.

“Campaign workers everywhere are organizing, and organizing quickly,” said Meg Reilly, vice president of the Campaign Workers Guild. “That should be no surprise. The same energy and drive that make campaign workers great at what we do has been instrumental in ensuring this movement isn’t ending anytime soon.”

“We’re so excited to be the first campaign in California to unionize and that our candidate, Andy Thorburn in CA-39, actually practices what he preaches," said Cole Edwards, Digital Director for Thorburn for Congress. “This movement is long overdue and we are thrilled to join our CWG brothers, sisters & friends across the country!”

The Campaign Workers Guild is a new independent national union representing non-management workers on electoral and issue-based campaigns.
