Job Description
The Campaign Workers Guild (CWG) looks forward to welcoming a dedicated individual who aligns with our mission and values and is ready to make a profound and lasting impact on the lives of our members. CWG is a national independent union of campaign and campaign-adjacent workers. We are committed to improving our members’ work conditions, empowering organizers, and promoting healthy career longevity. We represent two types of dues-paying members: Working and Associate. Working members are covered under a CWG-negotiated CBA.
We are searching for a full-time Representative who believes that campaign workers need unions to fight for fair working conditions, better wages, and respect at work. A strong candidate for this position has a deep, personal understanding of the issues campaign workers face on the job, and has familiarity with unions and the collective bargaining process. This position offers a diverse array of responsibilities that collectively contribute to the empowerment of workers and the enhancement of their working conditions. This role will encompass key responsibilities in organizing, bargaining, representation, institutional support, and movement building. It offers the potential for professional growth within CWG.
This is a full-time, remote position. The annual salary is $68,000. The hours are flexible and negotiable but may require evening and weekend work in accordance with the availability of campaign workers and Executive Council members. We offer a laptop, $500 health care / personal use stipend, and a generous paid time off policy, including 15 paid vacation days per year, unlimited sick leave, and bereavement. It is possible that limited paid travel with per diem may be required. Our target start date is early 2026.

Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
Collaborates closely with the Organizing Director to establish and nurture new units, coordinating unit organizing committees, guiding workers in setting strategic goals and tactics and supporting organizing campaigns.
Onboards new workers to their bargaining unit and CWG; builds worker leaders through leadership development for stewards and working members
Provides professional representation for workers, addressing investigations, disciplines, and processing grievances within contractually fixed time limits
Understands and interprets labor contracts, applying their terms to workplace issues and grievances;
Supports collective bargaining negotiations, ensuring equitable agreements that benefit both campaign workers and CWG members, in coordination and collaboration with the volunteer-led bargaining program.
Additional Responsibilities
Ensures CWG membership dues remain at or above the 90% threshold, ensuring financial stability to sustain our initiatives.
Contributes to the development of training or educational resources for working and associate members, thereby enhancing CWG's bargaining capacity and quality.
Supports ad hoc administrative processes.
Identifies ongoing opportunities for CWG to engage in relevant state and national legislation.
Qualifications
Experience with unions and contract enforcement, whether as a member or staff
Familiarity with the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
Experience building an issue campaign plan with members and working the plan
Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving skills, and strong organizing conversations – should be able to quickly and confidently form relationships with workers and potential associate members, including identifying issues, making assessments, and moving them to action
Ability to work independently and remotely
Excellent time management
Keep detailed records and file reports in a timely manner
Internet access, as well as experience using G-Suite (Google Apps) and databases
Preferred Qualifications
Training experience, including training staff or leaders in organizing fundamentals and drafting training materials
Familiarity with constituent relationship management tools like Action Network
Has been a part of or led negotiations for collective bargaining agreements
Working knowledge of political campaigns (and campaign positions/power structures), state parties, nonprofits, and/or digital firms.
Familiarity with Campaign Workers Guild
Experience filing Unfair Labor Practices (ULPs) with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)
